Four generations. Three countries. A story finding a new beginning.

Before ZAITA existed, there was already a family connection to olive oil.

A story that began in 1920, travelled across different lands and was carried from one generation to the next until it reached Portugal.

Today, that heritage takes on a new expression.

Our story began in

1920

when the Toledano family entered the world of olive oil.

What began as a connection to the product and the culture surrounding it became part of the family’s story — a memory that would travel through time, across countries and into the generations that followed.

The journey

From land to land. From generation to generation.

Over more than a century, the Toledano family’s story has travelled through three countries deeply rooted in Mediterranean culture.

From Morocco to Spain.

From Spain to Portugal.

Each place added a new chapter. The landscape changed and time moved forward, but olive oil remained a thread connecting past and present.

Today

The fourth generation. A new vision.

David Toledano — Founder & Managing Director

Today, David Toledano, the fourth generation of the family, is returning to that story to give it a new future.

Fourth generation of the Toledano family in olive oil, David founded ZAITA in Portugal to give a contemporary expression to a family connection that began in 1920. The brand works with selected Portuguese mills and certified bottling partners, linking origin, product and B2B markets — from the ZAITA Collection to private label.

ZAITA was born from this meeting of heritage and ambition: a contemporary brand created in Portugal to build new relationships between producers, products and markets.

This is not about repeating the past.

It is about recognising where we come from and transforming that legacy into something meaningful for the present.

This is ZAITA.

Made in Portugal

Produced and bottled in Portugal, land of tradition and excellence in olive oil.

The name

A name that carries a story of its own.

ZAITA draws inspiration from “zayt”, the Arabic word for olive oil.

It is a reference to the product’s Mediterranean roots, the family’s time in Morocco and the culture that has accompanied this journey through the generations.

A name that honours its origins while looking towards the future.

A new chapter

Tradition only remains alive when it continues to evolve.

ZAITA brings together a family story that began more than a century ago with a new way of thinking about olive oil, brand and market presence.

It marks the beginning of a project built on respect for origin, attention to the product and a desire to create lasting relationships with those who truly understand olive oil.

Four generations.

Three countries.

A story that continues.
